What skills, knowledge and experience will you need?
- Experience as a user researcher or appropriate experience in other fields of research.
- Experience of advising colleagues on the best research tools and methods to use to assure best practice in research.
- Experience of collaborating with other researchers on research projects.
- Experience of championing, planning and conducting research approaches which are inclusive of all users. Experience and understanding of the ethical and data governance requirements of conducting research.
- Experience of working with senior stakeholders/clients. Experience of persuading others on the value of research, defending research findings and challenging others on the use of research.
- Experience of working with constraints and adapting approaches to mitigate against constraints.
You and your role
This Senior User Researcher role is part of our Hybrid Cloud Services (HCS) team.
You'll be leading on the planning and execution of strategic research activities, defining issues faced by the HCS team and users.
You have the skills and knowledge to choose and implement the right research strategies, guiding and supporting your team of user researchers.
We want you to make sure that the quality, efficiency and accuracy of the research conducted remains high, and that we're representing users effectively, as well as working with the wider research community to define and share best practices.

Location: You'll join us in one of our brilliant digital hubs in Blackpool, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle or Sheffield, whichever is most convenient for you.
Hybrid Working: We work a hybrid model - you'll spend some time working at home and some time collaborating face to face in a hub.
Pay: We offer competitive pay of up to £66,058.
Pension: You'll get a brilliant civil service pension with employer contributions worth 28.97%, worth up to £19,090 per year.
Holidays: A generous leave package starting at 26 days rising to 31 days over time.
You can also take up to 3 extra days off a month on flexi-time. You'll also get all the usual public holidays.
